The Waylon Shirt doesn’t just borrow from an era it’s built on the very blueprint of one.
We patterned it after the classic 1970s block that defined Waylon Jennings stage presence, giving you that same confidence & roomy silhouette. Think slightly dropped shoulders and a body that moves with you, whether you’re leaving it untucked or rolling the sleeves up for the day.
It’s cut from a deadstock Japanese flannel that feels like it’s been yours for years. We gave it a light wash to bring out a sun warmed fade. The colour is a deep, smoky pine green, woven through with subtle threads of burnt orange, navy, and ecru for a little contrast.
Up front, we kept the classic western flap pockets but cut them a little larger. It’s a small change that makes all the difference, blending a vintage look with everyday practicality.
This fabric comes from Nishiwaki in Japan, a region that's been perfecting cloth since 1792. They use a traditional method where the yarn is dyed before it’s woven, which is what gives the colours their incredible depth and richness.
